Twenty miles per hour speed sign.

20mph is plenty near schools and homes

20mph speed limits are proven to be cleaner, safer and quieter for local residents - cutting emissions by 25%, noise by 50% and fatal accidents by 20%.
Local people are have made it very clear that they are concerned with car speeds and pedestrian safety in residential street and particularly near schools.

Dropping the default speed limit on our residential roads from 30mph to 20mph would make our streets safer, friendlier and cleaner.
Cyclists and pedestrians would feel safer using local roads and pavements - children and parents would feel more confident walking to school, and enjoy our area even more.

20mph is plenty near schools and homes

20 mph zones are becoming more and more common. Where they have been implemented deaths and injuries have reduced. The evidence from Wales shows vehicles travelling at 20mph cause 20% fewer casualties, 25% less pollution and 50% less noise.
