Large Scale solar farms are coming to South Derbyshire

Liberal Democrats say that solar energy is good - in the right places. Solar panels provide low cost, low carbon energy. Making it removes energy from the area reducing over-heating. Putting panels on houses, on factories and over car parks is great. But fields and fields of panels is a different matter.
There is a new scheme being considered for approval, which consists of five sites, made up of dozens of farmers’ fields, to be a new solar farm. This includes land between Hatton and Hilton, near Church Broughton, north of Etwall and south of Eggington. The panels then need cabling to link back of the Willington substation.
Together this scheme is so large that the planning application is to be considered by the Government, not local councillors.
We would like to hear what you think of these new solar farms.
